Since the first store was set up in Southampton in Britain, B&Q,
a holding company under the leading Britain retailer-Kingfisher
Group, has grown up to be the third largest retailer worldwide and
ranked the first in Europe in Housing Ornament retailing. B&Q
has now opened more than 600 chain stores in 11 countries and regions
in the world with revenue of 5.1 billion pounds in 2000.
 As
a leader of decorating and building materials chain store worldwide,
B&Q entered the Chinese market on June 18,1999 with main business
including over 50,000 varieties of merchandise, such as kitchen utensils
and appliances, sanitary ware, lamps and lanterns, electronic components
and devices, paints, ceramic bricks, furniture, hardware, board floor
, piping connectors, gardening and home appliances , etc. So far B&Q
has established five stores in Shanghai, Suzhou and Kunming, and expects
to expand its business scale to 58 stores in 2005 and to 126 stores
in 2010 in China.
- Novasoft helps optimize process in purchase, sales and inventory
As a retailer with more than 50,000 kinds of merchandise, B&Q
deals with a wide range of commodities, miscellaneous booking, complex
process in inventory and sales, as well as increasing newly-opened
stores, which forces B&Q to improve business processes and inventory,
and put the logistics under well control so as to lay a solid foundation
for boosting its business in China.
With a full consideration, B& Q chose Retail solution of SAP,
the leading enterprise solution provider to drive its business into
a new stage. During the implementation, Novasoft deployed appropriate
modules for B&Q, such as FI, CO, AA, Retail, BW, etc., running
on the Sun Ultra Enterprise 10000.
- System live on time - to budget
After only three weeks of preparation, the B&Q project started
in May 2001. Due to the combined strength of B&Q, Novasoft and
SAP the system went live on schedule after an impressing short implementation
time of seven months. Not only was the B&Q Project the very
first SAP Retail Implementation ever in China, the full scope implementation
was also completed to budget.

SAP solution provides B&Q employees with convenience and quickness
in enterprise and individual operation as soon as the system commissioning.
FI allows salesmen to realize the conditions of inventory, access
and evaluate the data of the company-wide sales real time, while
significantly reducing the closing time for booking entry and improving
the management of an account sale and receivable payment. Now, only
3 staffs will be able of finishing settlement within 3 hours instead
lasting till the dawn in the past. B&Q had consecutively opened
new stores in China during the system implementation. With the SAP
solution, B&Q reduced the cost for setting up a new one by 30%.
In addition to generating remarkable profits for B&Q, the results
of this project indicate the importance of streamlining the management
and optimize the business process.
The high quality and efficiency Novasoft has proofed during the
